The loss of many teeth can be difficult to handle. With one or two teeth gone, maybe you can get a bridge or single implant, but replacing all or most of your teeth is a job for dentures, right? Not necessarily. If you’ve been using dentures to replace many teeth, you may want to look into the same-day dental implants offered by Dr. Ruparelia.
During the surgery, implant screws will be added to your jaw. That day, you’ll receive a full set of temporary teeth to wear while the final crowns are being made. A few weeks later, you’ll head back to the dentist’s office to get your permanent bridges that will attach to those four screws, and you’ll have a full set of teeth again. Given that the teeth are attached at only a few points, you may wonder what the point is — why not just stick with dentures and avoid the surgery?
You could just stay with full-mouth dentures, but full mouth restoration gives you a set of permanently installed teeth that you don’t have to take out every night. There’s no risk that the teeth will fall out, either; with dentures, the adhesive can fail, but with implants, those crowns are in for good.
It is possible that your jaw bones are not well-suited for implants, in which case you’d have to stay with dentures. Your dentist can go over correct usage with you to ensure that you’re getting the most comfortable and easiest experience possible with the dentures and the adhesive.
One of the great things about having this procedure done at Cascades Center for Dental Health is that the dentist here uses six or more implant points instead of four (this procedure is normally called All-on-Four). Additional implant sites give the full crown a much more stable base. You’ll still be able to floss under and around the teeth, but you’ll also feel like the teeth are more secure.
