Tooth decay can actually create a hole in the hard, protective surface of your tooth. When it is a small hole, or cavity, we can often repair it with a filling quickly and easily here at our Sterling, Virginia office. If your tooth is badly damaged, there may not be enough natural structure left to repair with fillings. In that case, we will replace the visible part of the tooth with a crown – an artificial replacement tooth that looks, feels and works just like a natural tooth. The crown will be cemented to the strong remaining natural tooth structure, which has been shaped to create a solid anchor for the crown. Once the crown has been placed, it will look just like the rest of your teeth. We place crowns for people every day here at the Cascades Center for Dental Health, because it is a great way to replace badly damaged portions of a tooth, while saving the root of the tooth.
